Creole Rhythm: Music

Transit Through Life

(Creole Rhythm)
2010-03-07
Original Piano solo and Orchestration by Frank French
Down street they came , first from afar yet drawing ever near
The faintest sounds rang distant in the air
Yet growing surely with each step
Becoming soon the Carnival Parade
To welcome watchers to the Masquerade

Some saw gods and others demons
And phantoms of all forms
And some saw men and others beast
But all partook of royal feast
The revelers drank the din as from a flask
But few perceived that presence
Immortal, formless yet unseen behind the mask

One observer watched them pass
That witness stood apart from march of life
Though close at hand endured the noise with fury rife

Just then the volume reached its greatest height
As like an empire bold and great in might
Then slowly did begin its sure descent
Thus marking too, its passage into Lent
And thence did fade like flicker’s dying flame
or dwindling pulse of beating heart
Returning once again from whence it came
